A Note from Catherine
I have been influenced by, educated in, and utilizing multiple approaches during my career. I practice systemically and my perspective is influenced most by postmodern values and philosophy with a particular focus on discursive processes and co-created conversations. I utilize a systemically based integrative approach to practice and supervision including models such as narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, transgenerational concepts, attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), clinical hypnotherapy, and mindfulness cognitive behavioural therapy (MCBT). Sensitivity to diversity issues, social justice concerns, and ethical practice inform all aspects of my work both as a therapist and a Clinical Supervisor.
I offer continuously evolving, self-directed, and co-created goal-setting processes, adapting as the Supervisee evolves in their practice, utilizing cyclical and process-oriented models of supervision. For myself, and my Supervisees, my model also includes a professional growth focus, identifying and articulating professional growth goals establishing core competencies through planning educational pathways, self-directed learning opportunities, and peer mentorship relationships.
